Young Farmer & Ranchers Scholarships

YF&R Scholarships

The Yolo County Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers and Ranchers (YF&R) Scholarships are designed to give financial aid to students residing or attending a high school in Yolo County with a desire to start a career in the agriculture industry or an agriculture-related field. Scholarships ranging in amounts from $1,000 to $5,000 will be awarded to graduating seniors from a Yolo County High School. This scholarship is based on scholastic achievement, leadership skills, and agriculture involvement.

Please be sure that all applicants submit their applications on or before June 6, 2025 with all of the necessary paperwork.

Any graduating high school senior residing or attending a high school in Yolo County and entering a two year community college or four year college or university and is majoring in an agriculture based or related field is eligible. The student must be enrolled as a full-time student or enrolled in at least twelve (12) academic units per semester or quarter during the year of the scholarship award. Applicants do not need to be a member of Yolo County Farm Bureau to be eligible.


Application instructions

Fillable, electronic scholarship applications can be found online at www.yolofarmbureau.org under the tab “About Us,” then select “Scholarships.” All submissions must be typed.


The scholarship application and all required materials must be submitted by or postmarked on June 6, 2025 to:

Applications and materials not received by or postmarked on June 7, 2024 will not be accepted.

Scholarships will be awarded to students via their school’s financial department and will be directly applied to their tuition. Students are responsible for submitting proof of enrollment and student ID numbers as well as addresses to their school’s financial department in order to receive scholarship monies.

Interviews may be necessary to determine the scholarship recipient. Finalists will be contacted directly to schedule an interview time and date. If you have any questions regarding the YF&R Scholarship, please contact the Farm Bureau office at (530) 662-6316.



Congratulations to the 2023 - 2024 Recipients!

Savannah Scheuermann

Yolo County Farm Bureau is pleased to announce that Savannah Scheuermann has been awarded the Yolo County Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers scholarship for 2023-2024.

Savannah recently worked as a peer tutor at Woodland Community College.She earned the state FFA Degree, along with Star Greenhand and Star Vice President.She served in turn as Reporter, Vice President and President of her FFA chapter.She was Vice President of Best Buddies, vice Chair of the Student Advisory Council at Pioneer High School, and Choir Club Treasurer along with participating in the National Honors Society, Youth Council, and Girl State delegate.

Savannah will be attending Cal Poly SLO with a major in Plant Science, focusing on Environmental Horticulture. She intends to pursue her teaching degree.

Luis Bucio Navarro

Yolo County Farm Bureau is pleased to announce that Luis Bucio Navarro has been awarded the Yolo County Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers scholarship for 2023-2024.

Luis was introduced to Agronomy while interning at Syngenta, and later learned the day-to-day processes of farming in Yolo County while assisting at a Woodland walnut orchard. He was very active in FFA while at Woodland High School, earning the Star Sentinel, Green Hand Degree, Chapter Degree, State Degree and Outstanding Junior awards. He also won multiple agronomy awards. He was Chapter Sentinel, CA FFA Delegate and Central Region FFA Delegate. At Woodland High he founded the Beautification Club, was Children’s Class Coordinator for the Ruhi Institute, Vice President of the Little Leaf Club and was on the National Honors Society. He was Captain of the WHS Men’s Volleyball team and was awarded MVP.

Luis will be attending UC Davis.
